I've been terrible about keeping this blog up to date lately, but since I think I've talked to most of my readers personally, the motivation is waning. Anyway, here's a recap of what I've been up to since my last post:
- Two weekends ago, Tracy and I joined Devin and a friend to see the VH1 Tribute to The Who in L.A. It was an odd mix of Pearl Jam fans and baby boomers, and the results were mixed. Several bands took the stage in addition to Pearl Jam and The Who (each cover band getting two or three songs), and I must say I wouldn't have minded seeing more of The Flaming Lips. However, being staged for TV as it was, everything had to fit neatly into a two hour time slot, and there were some re-takes mixed in. A little weird, but certainly worth the trip.
- Last weekend, Tracy and I went back to Seattle for a friend's wedding. It's always nice to go back, especially in the summer, and the weather did not disappoint (let's hope for a repeat performance for our wedding!). We spent some time with our caterer on a site visit, and wrapped up many of the remaining details for the wedding planning. I can't wait!
- The other big news that occurred in my life is that I resigned from my job on Thursday (and was let go on Friday). I've decided to take a new, similar position at a much different kind of company, with very different hours (was: 9:30-6:30, will be: 7:30-4:00). I'm looking forward to being able to match Tracy's hours better, as well as being able to take our new dog to the dog park after work year-round. They've even left open the possibility of working remotely after our next move. So far, so good. I start after our honeymoon.
Now, I have lots of time to myself all of a sudden. It's weird not being at work on a weekday, but it will be nice to have time to spend with my family when they come out to visit next week. Maybe I'll even cook Tracy dinner for a change!
